Frequently Asked Questions
What about my privacy?

Our professional bodies and ethical codes of conduct require us to uphold confidentiality. This means we do not share your information with anyone, except in very exceptional circumstances (e.g. when people are at risk of harm).

We are conscious we live in a small community where there is sometimes a small degree of separation between social circles - we are constantly mindful of this and strongly uphold your privacy. We also keep separate client records, phone and email to maintain confidentiality between our separate client caseloads.

We will talk more about this when we meet in person and encourage your questions regarding this.

A standard session runs for 50-60 minutes.

Cancellation Policy
-
If you need to cancel or postpone your appointment, we require at least 24 hours’ notice, otherwise you will be charged 50% of the session fee (except in extenuating circumstances).
-
Cancellation fees are not eligible for the Medicare rebate.

The Finer Print
-
These fees are subject to change, however we will give advance warning of any changes.
-
The full fee will be charged, via EFTPOS, to your nominated account at the time of the session.
-
Medicare rebates are processed after payment and should be received overnight into the bank account that you have registered with Medicare (this may be a different account to the one that you pay with).
-
Please bring your Mental Health Care Plan and Medicare card to the first appointment.
What is a Mental Health Care Plan?

You can access a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) through a GP. A MHCP gives you access to up to 10 Medicare rebatable sessions per calendar year. You will need to revisit the GP a few times per year to access these sessions (i.e. GP review is required after the first 6 sessions, then the next 4 sessions).

You need to make an appointment with the GP. When you book tell them you want to talk about a mental health care plan so they allocate enough time and the GP is prepared. When you attend your appointment tell the GP your current mental health challenges and that you are looking for a MHCP. The GP will run through a range of questions with you and discuss care providers. You can advocate for yourself and tell the GP who you are hoping to be referred to.

I'm not sure you are the right fit for me, what should I do?

Call us and have a chat! We will also be asking you questions to help ensure that we are a good fit for what we can offer. There are many service providers locally, and we can direct you to other clinicians if either you or ourselves are not confident we will be the right fit.
